Ah, another new year and with that comes a fresh new season of exciting clothing styles and trends. So what does that mean for our closets? Will the off-the-shoulder trend continue into the New Year? How about the everlasting athleisure style? Stay tuned - these are the hottest trends for 2018. What’s made the cut and who’s got the boot?
The past year was definitely all about bold, brazen shades like brick red and canary yellow. For 2018, the fashion forecast is decidedly lighter, more subdued and all-out pastel. Catwalks from Hermèsto Chloé were awash with baby blues and ice-cream pinks, just in time for the long-awaited spring season. And of course, light palette includes the mum of all colours - White.
Honestly speaking, we’ve had enough of the off-the-shoulder trend, cold shoulders..whatever you want to call it. It's so 2016 let's be honest. It's time to escape. I mean, it was ok until every second person started to wear it every corner you turn. It's time to break up with off shoulders. Let's move on, shall we?
The upcoming fashion climate thankfully sees a lot more experimentation with necklines. We’re talking high-neck Victorian styles along with lower, more plunging boat necks and even plunging V-necks.
Who doesn’t love a good button-down shirt? It's a trend that lasts FOREVERRRR...And when you can simply swipe your boyfriend’s oversized fit, even better. Best of all, the slightly slouchy fit is great at accentuating our finer feminine body parts like slim wrists and cinched-in midriffs, giving a beautifully balanced silhouette.
Those skintight skinny jeans we’ve all been squeezing into for the past few years? No more! You can thank the creatives at Céline, Gucci and Victoria Beckham for bringing back this super comfortable wide leg trouser trend. Complete the look by going full 70s in matching stiletto heel boots. You know you want to! (p.s. our new wide leg overall is coming back soon in 100% linen.. stay tuned!)
Need to spruce up a casual weekend look? Look no further than that sparkly metallic number usually only reserved for nighttime events. The 2018 style brief is all about metallics paired with more laidback athleisure cuts. Be sure to keep the rest of your look toned down though with minimal accessories, hair and make-up. This season we've picked up some "Dead stock" (up cycling fabrics) metallic fabrics from current designer market and turned them into new limited edition designs. Coming so soon. Make sure you get on the list below to be in the loop.
Lots of love. Jac x
